Special Olympics


 Traditional State Bowling Tournament

When: November 7-9
Where: Village Bowl, Aberdeen (1314 8th Ave NW)
Time: 3 Shifts Saturday (Doubles) and 3 Shifts Sunday (Teams)

Reminder for all athletes:

  • All athletes must wear their BLACK bowling t-shirt. The yellow shirts cannot be worn.
    Meals are only provided to those athletes staying with the Fireworks, except for the banquet. The banquet is open to all athletes that registered to attend.
    Athletes will bowl three games on Saturday and three games on Sunday

Athletes Not Riding the Bus:

  • Please be at the bowling alley 15-20 minutes prior to your shift and in your lane ready to bowl. This includes bowling shoes on and with your bowling ball.
    If you plan to attend the banquet, you will be required to find a chaperone.  Only registered athletes and volunteers may attend the banquet.
    The banquet is Saturday 6 p.m. at the Ramada Inn.
    All athletes are welcomed to attend the Dance on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn

Athletes Riding the Bus:

  • Please don't forget to pack your bowling t-shirt!
    Do not bring expensive electronics
    Check the lane assignments link below to determine your bus schedule
    Buses will depart and return to Lowes (W 26th Street and I-29)

Bus Schedule:

To Aberdeen-
1st Shift- Loads Friday at 5:15 p.m. and will depart at 5:30 p.m. (Supper will be provided on the bus)
2nd Shift- Loads Saturday at 6:15 a.m. and will depart at 6:30 a.m. (Breakfast will be provided on the bus)
3rd Shift- Loads Saturday at 7:45 a.m. and will depart 8:00 a.m. (NO MEAL)

From Aberdeen-
1st Shift- Arrives in Sioux Falls approx. 4 p.m. on Sunday
2nd Shift- Arrives in Sioux Falls approx. 6:30 p.m. on Sunday
3rd Shift- Arrives in Sioux Falls approx. 8:30 p.m. on Sunday

2014 USA Games

Congratulations to the Fireworks athletes on their amazing results at the 2014 USA Games!  The following athletes from the Fireworks participated on Team South Dakota at the games: Chana Sandoval, Noah Pierce, Mark Hoover, and Keith Halbertstadt.  Well done athletes!!

Polar Plunge Challenge Winner

At the Soup Supper- the challenge was made!

Challenge: The athlete that could raise the most money by April 1 would win the big white polar bear.

Alison List is the winner!

Alison raised $271.00 by April 1, all by herself!

Great job Alison! Thank you for all your hard work!
